A Message from the Director

The Leukemia/BMT Training Program supported by Vancouver Coastal Health, British Columbia Cancer Agency and the University of British Columbia is accepting applications for positions available in July, 2009.

Normally, fellowship training is 1 to 2 years. Initially a one-year commitment to the Program is required and offered. However, fellows in their first year who would like to do a second year will be considered for an additional year.

Our Leukemia/BMT Program has a staff of thirteen adult BMT Hematologists and four to six Leukemia/BMT Fellows.

To be accepted into our Clinical Program, an educational license must be obtained from the B.C. College of Physicians and Surgeons. If it is necessary for you to obtain immigration documentation, this will be arranged by us on your behalf.

For those individuals who are interested in pursuing laboratory research in Hematology, it should be noted that the Terry Fox Laboratory at the British Columbia Cancer Agency provides training in laboratory hematology research. Positions there usually require a commitment of two to three years, with individuals making a three-year commitment and who enroll in a Ph.D. program being given the highest priority. Application for such research training should be made directly to the Terry Fox Laboratory as the Leukemia/BMT fellowships are designed to provide clinical training and experience in clinical research. It may be possible to arrange a fellowship that includes training with the Leukemia/BMT Program as well as the Terry Fox Lab.

If you decide to apply, please fill out the University of British Columbia application form. Please include the names and addresses of three individuals whom we may contact for references on your behalf.

Thank you for your interest in our Leukemia/BMT Training Program.
