Key Areas

The Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program facility has three main areas which service the needs of patients. These are:

Inpatients - We have inpatient facilities for patients with leukemia and related illnesses in the Jim Pattison Pavilion at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH).

Patients may also be cared for on Ward 6 West at the British Columbia Cancer Agency where the Program has six beds.

Outpatients - The outpatient clinic for the Program is in the Heather Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital. This facility provides a number of services such as:

  • Administration of intravenous fluids
  • Chemotherapy
  • Antibiotics and blood product transfusions
  • Patient and family teaching and counselling

Cell Separator Unit - The Cell Separator/Hematology Unit is located on the first floor of the Jim Pattison Pavilion at the Vancouver General Hospital. This is where the collection of blood stem cells and donor leukocytes is undertaken.
