Key Areas
The Leukemia/Bone
Marrow Transplant Program facility has three main areas which
service the needs of patients. These are:
Inpatients - We have inpatient facilities for patients with leukemia and
related illnesses in the Jim Pattison Pavilion at the Vancouver
General Hospital (VGH).
Patients may also be cared for on Ward 6 West at the British
Columbia Cancer Agency where the Program has six beds.
Outpatients - The outpatient clinic for the Program is
in the Heather Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital.
This facility provides a number of services such as:
- Administration of intravenous fluids
- Chemotherapy
- Antibiotics and blood product transfusions
- Patient and family teaching and counselling
Cell Separator Unit
- The Cell Separator/Hematology
Unit is located on the first floor of the Jim Pattison
Pavilion at the Vancouver General Hospital. This is where
the collection of blood stem cells and donor leukocytes is
undertaken.
