Inpatient Units
The
Leukemia/BMT Program inpatient facilities include:
The units have
a special air filtration system that is designed to protect
patients from exposure to organisms that can cause life-threatening
infections in immunocompromised individuals.
Experienced multidisciplinary
teams staff the units, and while bone marrow
transplant physicians provide care (on a monthly rotation)
on the units, each area has its own dedicated nursing and
support staff. Patients who have aplastic anemia or patients
who are to receive donor stem cell transplants are only admitted
to the unit on the 15th floor of the Tower at VGH.
