Receiving The Best Medical Care

Our unit is staffed with dedicated and highly qualified professionals. They include eleven attending staff for the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program with members having academic appointments through the University of British Columbia. Some of the attending staff physicians also have cross-appointments with the Terry Fox Laboratory (TFL) where additional Hematology Division members concentrate their efforts on the basic cancer research for which the Terry Fox Laboratory is world-renowned.

The inpatient wards are staffed on a monthly rotation with the assistance of a group of Bone Marrow Transplant Fellows. These are physicians who have completed training in internal medicine, hematology or oncology and who are doing further training in the leukemia/bone marrow transplant field.

It is likely that each patient will encounter multiple members of our medical team during their hospitalisation and immediate post-discharge care. Long-term follow-up is usually done by the attending staff person who handled the patient's initial consultation.
